About Bitcoin Surf
Bitcoin Surf is an independent online magazine for private investors who hold crypto assets or are seriously considering doing so. We are not here to sell you a dream. We are here to help you understand what you own, how to protect it, what it may cost you in tax, and which rules apply to you.
Our mission
Crypto has matured from a fringe experiment into an asset class that ordinary households now hold alongside savings accounts, index funds and pensions. The information landscape has not matured at the same pace. Much of what private investors read is written by people with something to sell: an exchange, a token, a trading course. Bitcoin Surf exists to provide the opposite — sober, practical, technically grounded coverage with no affiliate pressure and no price predictions.
What we cover
Our editorial work is organised around four areas that matter most to a careful private investor:
- Wallets & Security — custody choices, hardware wallets, seed phrase hygiene, phishing patterns, inheritance planning for keys, and recovery procedures explained step by step.
- Crypto Tax — how different jurisdictions treat holdings, disposals, staking rewards and airdrops, with explainers that help you ask your accountant the right questions.
- Risk — counterparty risk, smart contract risk, liquidity risk, concentration risk, and the psychological traps that cause real losses in volatile markets.
- Regulation — what frameworks such as MiCA, travel-rule requirements and national reporting obligations actually mean for an individual holder.
How we work
Every article follows the same editorial standard. We state our assumptions. We distinguish clearly between established fact, regulatory interpretation and our own assessment. We do not publish price targets, trading signals or sponsored token coverage. When an article touches on tax or law, we say plainly that it is general information, not personal advice, and we date our material so you can judge whether the rules may have changed.
We write with a slightly technical edge on purpose. Understanding how a transaction is signed, or why an exchange is a counterparty rather than a vault, is not optional knowledge for someone with meaningful money at stake. We try to make that knowledge accessible without diluting it.
Who we are
Bitcoin Surf is a small editorial team with backgrounds in finance, software security and financial journalism, publishing in English, French and Dutch. We do not accept payment for coverage, and we disclose any holdings relevant to an article. If we get something wrong, we correct it visibly and explain the change.
Crypto rewards patience and punishes carelessness. Our job is to help you be on the right side of that line. Questions or corrections are always welcome at info@bitcoinsurf.org.
